Summary: We had a lovely stay at Cuckoo Cottage and would happily return.
The location is excellent for exploring the Peak District, with beautiful walks straight from the doorstep, including Lathkill Dale. The swimming pool was a real bonus after a day of walking, and the games room was great fun, with pool, table tennis, darts, giant Jenga and other games available.
The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. We appreciated the thoughtful extras provided, including tea, coffee, washing-up liquid, tea towels, hand soap and toilet roll. Mobile signal was poor inside the cottage, but the WiFi was excellent.
A useful tip for future guests: Google Maps directed us to a nearby farm and campsite. The cottages are actually located directly on the main road into Bakewell.
We had a few minor issues during our stay. The key wasn't available on arrival as expected, which delayed us leaving for about an hour. There were also quite a few cobwebs and spiders, although the cottage itself was otherwise clean it really could do with a good dust. We also had no hot water on the first evening, but after a quick call, a friendly member of staff promptly reset the boiler and the issue was resolved.
Overall, these were minor points and did not detract from an enjoyable stay. We'd happily recommend Cuckoo Cottage as a great base for exploring the Peak District.
