The space
The Ponderay Cottage is your home away from home. Designed with all the comforts of everyday living for all to enjoy while exploring everything Sandpoint has to offer. If you desire epic powder ski days or lounging on the lake on a hot summer's day, we have you covered!
Schweitzer Moutain Ski Resort is the premier ski destination in the Pacific Northwest, and it is an easy 25-minute drive (10 miles) from Ponderay Cottage. If you don't feel like driving to the mountain, there is a free ski shuttle service located 5 minutes away that will take you straight to the mountain.
Need something to do when the snow melts but you still want to enjoy Schweitzer? Schweitzer transforms itself into a mountain biking paradise with over 40 miles of trails for all levels. If biking isn't your thing, there are plenty of marked hiking trails and huckleberries along the way.
Planning a summer lake vacation? Downtown Sandpoint is THE quintessential lake town that has it all: delicious food, boutique shopping, a few dive bars and the BEST local ice cream on the main strip. Enjoy direct beach access and a large city park as you get ready to explore beautiful Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho's longest lake at 43 miles long.
Whether you just want to lounge in the summer sun or spin 360s behind a wake surf boat, the choice is yours. Lake rentals (boat, kayaks, paddleboards, etc.) are available for rent in downtown Sandpoint.
The House:
The Ponderay Cottage is a newly constructed home wholly designed for families and friends to enjoy your much needed time together! We created this space with comfort and coziness in mind. If there is anything else you would love to see in this home, please let us know!
The layout: The main house has 4 bedrooms, all equipped with memory foam mattresses. The primary bedroom has a king bed, large walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom on the main floor. A smaller bedroom with a very comfortable twin day bed is also located on main floor. Radiant heat floors throughout the first floor.
The upstairs has two large bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a queen bed and a twin bed, both with memory foam mattresses. Bedroom 2 has five twin bunk beds, all with memory foam mattresses. A full bathroom and workspace complete the upstairs living area.
The living room has a gas-powered fireplace to warm up the cold nights and an AC unit to cool down those hot summer days. Don't want to go out and eat? We have a fully stocked kitchen for those that love to cook and plenty of coffee making options to get you going in the morning.
The Apartment:
Need additional space for extended family or friends? Our private, fully furnished apartment above the 2-car garage is your answer. This unit can sleep 4 comfortably. The primary bedroom has a king size bed and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. They will also have their own fully stocked kitchen AND washer and dryer!
