Summary: The Arlo's location is fantastic if you want to be in the center of activity in Chicago's Loop. Extremely convenient to Millennium Park, Art Institute, Metra commuter trains, Michigan Avenue and The Loop. But because it is in the center of things, nighttime can be noisy. There were many firetrucks and ambulances zooming by; often late into the night. Also, only the Loop view and Lake View rooms offer any kind of view. As I didn't have one of these rooms, my window looked out on the windows of the adjoining office tower; maybe five feet away. There were two problems with the room. First, the TV's backlight started coming on all by itself - which at 3am cast a grey light into the room, making sleep difficult for me. I spoke to the front desk about it in the morning and the problem was addressed. The second problem with my room, and I assume all rooms at The Arlo, is that for some reason the bathroom lights are on a motion sensor. Convenient during the day but in the dead of night when one has to use the bathroom - having the lights come on full bright is an absolute shock. There is no way to defeat this. So for my stay I had to keep my eyes closed when approaching the bathroom at night and blindly toggle the off switch. For me the real standout of the hotel is its attached restaurant. By all means try the happy hour Brussel Sprouts, and Skewer Chicken. Breakfast also served up one of the best vegetable omelets I have ever had. The chef is superb!
