Welcome to your new annual vacation retreat – Windjammer! A lovely, rustic four-bedroom, three-bath oceanfront home exuding total charm – perfect for your family's new beach tradition. This vintage charmer sits just steps from the beach. Sweeping views of the Pacific and Haystack Rock will exceed your expectations and delight you.
The original stone fireplace and knotty pine walls will welcome you to this timeless home. A perfect backdrop for family game nights, an evening cocktail, or your morning coffee. Built in 1939, Windjammer has seen additions and conversions along the way, leaving a unique home filled with enough nooks and crannies throughout to delight and accommodate all sized families, friends, and group gatherings. The generous living and dining areas feature a wall of windows focused on breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and Haystack Rock – you'll be captivated! The casual living room is filled with comfortable seating, with a TV for movies or the big game or - warning! - you may find yourself just sitting, daydreaming, and unwinding.
On the days and nights when the sand beckons you to the beach for tide pooling, bonfires for s'mores or simply relaxing, simply head down the road. A public beach access is easily steps away. A patio and private yard provide you with ample seating for dining and socializing, a gas grill and plenty of space for the kids – and Fido – to run! This outdoor area extends your living space and will be used just as much as the indoors, weather permitting! Claim your adirondack chair as soon as you arrive – what a great spot to watch and listen to the surf!!
Two steps down from the living room will lead you to the master suite featuring a king sized bed, TV and private bathroom with a tub and separate walk-in shower. Down the hall from the master suite, you will discover a hallway leading to an east set of stairs that will take you to a 15+ foot-long dormer, with four twin beds. This room, with its own staircase, makes it an ideal spot for afternoon naps or for the kids to indulge in slumber parties and ghost stories, all while being separated, but not too far away!
A complete, yet cozy, and fully stocked and equipped kitchen is available for fixing a full meal or packing up picnic lunches to take to the beach. If you decide to take your morning coffee in, the kitchen's ocean-front eating nook provides a perfect opportunity and view. Through the kitchen on the east side is a laundry room with a 3/4 bathroom. Appliances are all stainless steel and updated in the recent renovations.
Wind your way through the kitchen and living rooms to the west side of the house, and you will find a second staircase leading to two more bedrooms and bathroom tucked into the dormers on the second floor. Wake up to a full stunning view of the ocean and the amazing Haystack Rock from the first bedroom with a queen-sized bed and flat screen TV. The second bedroom is a delight, from the angles of the ceiling to the northwest views of the water and Tillamook Head Lighthouse. A full Jack and Jill bathroom, located between the two bedrooms, is perfect for sharing.
This rustic, beach home is as unique as it is charming and comfortable. The classic feel of this house will evoke memories of a simpler time and place. Summary: This home is in a gorgeous location - beautiful views and a reasonable walk to town. It's clean and well-equipped in the kitchen, baths, and outdoors. I assume it has had a number rooms added on over the years, which makes it a little quirky, with separate staircases to different sleeping areas. Only one bedroom has an ocean view, and that is not the master bedroom. A steep, narrow staircase leads to the upstairs room with four beds. The room is small and cramped, with no room for luggage. And the mattress in the second queen room really needs to be replaced. Still, I would absolutely stay here again. I wish I could give it a "Good".
