Positive: The central location is superb. The apartment is located in a pedestrian area with shops, cafes, and restaurants. It is very near the city food market. From the front door to the Mediterranean, via the Traverse St. Michel, is 125 steps. There is also a bus stop as you exit the Traverse. The bed is very comfortable. There were also plenty of bedding options -- extra pillows and blankets.The bathroom has been updated. The apartment opens onto an inner courtyard, so the apartment is very quiet. The kitchen is small but has all the essentials. I wouldn't plan on cooking gourmet meals but it is more than adequate to prepare breakfast, sandwiches, salads, and smaller meals. There's lots of closet space as well. The washing machine is located in a closet off the small balcony. You will need to give the top a very firm push to make it close properly. If it is not tightly closed, the machine will not run. The basket in the machine is smaller than American washers. This is just an observation to let future guests know they might have to wash smaller loads more often. There isn't an electric dryer but there is a rack/clothesline that hangs off the balcony. The locks on all the doors are more than adequate. As an older, single woman I felt very safe coming into the building at night. In addition to the locked front door, there are two doors with locks to enter into the small vestibule just outside the apartment and the apartment itself. The hosts were very responsive when I did't realize how firmly the washer had to be closed. Someone came over the next day to show me what I needed to do. When I reported that one of the stairwell lights wasn't working properly, it was repaired/replacced the next day. The wifi was consistent -- I never had a problem with the internet. I must also say that the apartment was absolutely immaculate. I have told many friends who visit Menton regularly about the apartment. It is excellent value for the price.
Negative: I didn't dislike anything. A clothes dryer might have been nice, but I had no problem hanging my clothes up to dry, The apartment isn't a four star hotel but I didn't expect it to be. I frequently travel throughout Europe and this studio apartment is consistent with price point. Plus, the location and cleanliness make up for any tiny flaws you might find. Expectations are very individual. The apartment was exactly what I expected.
