Step back to the 1930s with modern amenities in this book-filled, spacious upper floor of an in-progress “This Old House” vintage restoration of a classic 1905 “two flat” red-brick “brownstone” in S. Hyde Park / W. Woodlawn.
The main bedroom is a 12’ x 18’ second-floor rear room. It features a luxurious 11" queen mattress, a large classic dresser with mirror, and a large 19th-century armoire for your clothes.
The second bedroom is a smaller 10'x9’ second-floor front room overlooking a large balcony and the street. It features a comfy 13" single Serta mattress, a deep (~3’x4’) walk-in closet, and a small fold-down camp-style desk.
There is a kitchen/ette with stocked pantry, mini-fridge and microwave, and access to a full refrigerator on the first floor rear stairwell.
We are in close proximity to UChicago and the UChicago Medical Center.
Please review all photos to make sure you understand the vintage and unique “work in progress” nature of the space and its features. No work will occur while you are there, but we currently have partial tile restoral occuring in the kitchen/ette area and may begin in the bath. Hardwood floors are currently unsealed, etc.
Also note that this is our personal space (home) being offered on VRBO while we are away.

Summary: I rented this apartment for a weeklong stay. The listing information is completely accurate and transparent. Ken was a lovely host and provided accurate, detailed information that ensured my stay was easy and comfortable. I had a car with me and had no trouble finding parking. The apartment is large (especially for just one or two people) and has some really neat aesthetic touches. It is true that there are some renovations in progress, but that really did not hinder my stay. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
