Pervinca is an ancient lamia (rectangular stone construction with a barreled ceiling) placed next to the trullo Iris and consists of a large room that includes a double bed, a table and chairs, wardrobe, an open fireplace in which an ancient "crasta" is placed (big terracotta wineskin) where, until the sixties, the laundry was put in with water and ash; from the room you can access the kitchen and the bathroom; outside a patio with marble table and benches. Periwinkle is part of Eutopia, from greek good place, an oasis in the heart of the Itria Valley, characterized by the presence of the trulli, where nature offers a unique collection of Mediterranean plants and flowers: by agaves and prickly pears in olive and almond trees, geraniums and daisies roses and freesias.

You can spend your holiday total idleness or move with the bicycles provided and, using the scenic railroad South East, visiting all the attractions of southern Apulia, the station is 1 km. In about half an hour, 15km, you are at sea and in less than one hour you reach the marine reserve of Torre Guaceto. When the Adriatic sea is rough you have the alternative of the Ionian Sea, 40 km.

Summary: ‘Pervinca’ is the smallest gite of a total of four rental properties situated on an expansive private area of garden and countryside. Throughout our stay the owners were on-site and available to give assistance. ‘Pervinca’ has a small, basic kitchen with a two gas burner hob and a small microwave only. There were limited number of glasses, cups and cutlery, but sufficient pots, pans, and crockery although this was a mixed selection and mostly chipped and cracked. The main attraction for our stay was EUTOPIA’s delightful swimming pool, whose elevated position behind the Trullo ‘Solaria’ offered extensive views over the surrounding countryside. Use of the pool required a swimming cap. We spent most of our time relaxing outdoors. Fortunately the weather was reasonable with only a few days of rain. Whilst we would have liked to have stayed indoors more, especially after dark when mosquitos were active, there was no sofa only an wooden bench on which we placed a throw and the garden furniture cushions to make more comfortable. The website stated access to a hot tub but this was actually an integral part of the nearby Trullo ‘Malvarosa’. Apart from a family staying at ‘Malvarosa’ for one week we were the only guests on site throughout. This we very much enjoyed. One area to highlight is the extensive use of video surveillance cameras which was not mentioned on the website.
