Situated on the Dordogne and Charente border in the Southwest of France, the Moulin La Vergne offers a peaceful and tranquil opportunity to recharge those batteries and unwind.
We offer two apartments in the renovated 18th century water mill, located on the river Lizonne, a tributary to the Dronne. The first apartment is a single bedroomed, self catering unit, whilst the second is a two bedroomed unit with outside terrace overlooking the river and forest.
The mill itself is located on the outskirts of the village of Champagne et Fontaine, quiet and rural. Our facilities will appeal to the type of visitor who enjoys discovering what “Mother Nature” has to offer. Being on the river we attract many varieties of wildlife, which include Deer, Wild Boar, Coypu and for the bird-spotter, Kingfishers, Dippers, Heron’s etc. Fishing is also available, Brown Trout and Rainbows.
We are situated between Cognac to the North and Bergerac to the South, Bordeaux is around two hours away to the South West. Our nearest town is Villebois Lavelette, which boasts a medieval chateau of interest. Other communes of Aubeterre and Brantome are close by.
The area is served by two nearby airports, Limoges and Bergerac, with Ryanair and EasyJet operating to both. Brittany Ferries operate services to four ports all of which are around a five to six hour drive.
