Part of this property's exceptional charm lies in its history, and in the talented eye of the architect who turned the original 18th century structure into a comfortable and slightly quirky gathering spot for his family. His collection of Roman artefacts, strategically and delightfully placed, as well as some Baroque treasures, offers a cultural immersion to those who love art and history along with their holiday. A Cathedral ceiling with a balustrade rises two floors. The bedrooms are spaced around on both levels.

There are plenty of dining opportunities under the skies by the pool, under the shaded terrace, or in the palm dotted gardens. Santa Marinella is as old as Roman history, and can be traced back to ancient Etruscan times as a settlement known as Punicum, which was located on the promontory of the current Santa Marinella. You can see the retaining walls still today of the old Roman maritime villa once with fish farms and a port, and taken over by the Roman jurist, Ulpian in the 3rd century AD. It was excavated in the 19th century. A second important site is the Odescalchi Castle at the nearby Santa Severa, where funerary inscriptions are preserved in the gardens as well as in those of the surrounding estates.
Le Palafitte: Continuing along the stretch of shoreline headed south, there is a series of terraced stilts, very small wooden cottages on pillars also made of wood, which follow one another creating a picturesque landscape, and has been declared a Unesco heritage site.
