Campsite Roma Capitol is a brand new four star camping facility, located at only a one hour driving distance from Rome, a world city full of history and cultural heritage. Rome is one of those cities you should visit at least once in your lifetime. The campsite is situated at no more than 3 kilometres distance from the beach of Ostia Lido, where you can find a scenic boulevard with many (fish) restaurants and wide beaches. From the campsite, a shuttle goes to beach club ‘Il Capanno’ where you can enjoy the beach area, do water sports, have drinks, and work out in the gym. Are you a fan of sun and beaches in combination with cultural outings? Then this campsite is perfect for you.

Roma Capitol was built in 2016. It is 260,000 square metres and will in the future be able to accommodate 5,000 people. The campsite is located in a touristic area, and its facilities and services are without a doubt 4-star-worthy. For some delicious food or drinks you can visit one of the two small campsite bars or the restaurant. Rome, Ostia Lido or the campsite restaurant… there is something for everyone here! Roma Capitol is situated only 15 minutes from the Fiumicino airport. So if you do not want to travel by car, you can fly to Italy. We do advise you, however, to hire a car or a scooter during your stay here.

There are six Villatents Luxe with sanitary XL at the campsite. The tents can accommodate a maximum of six persons. They are clustered on a separate field, positioned under high pine trees in a beautiful spacious area surround by green. (See map: 70 up to 75) The campsite adjoins a protected nature reserve.
Swimming park
Roma Capitol’s swimming park consists of three swimming pools: a semi-Olympic pool, a wellness pool, and a comfortable and safe paddling pool for the little ones. Swimming is a perfect way of unwinding during your holidays, especially in the midst of the beautiful Italian flora and its pine trees. Please note that it is compulsory to wear a bathing cap; you can buy one at the campsite. At the swimming pool, beach beds are available (upon payment of a fee).
Activities and entertainment
Campsite Roma Capitol forms the centre point of open air activities. You can play football, tennis, basket ball, or beach voleyball. And in the near vicinity, you can participate in diving excursions or visit the Rainbow Magicland Adventure Park, one of the largest amusement parks in Italy. Please note that there is no entertainment team present at the campsite.

Summary: Checkin was smooth and quick. Tents are at the end of a street at the rear of the campground, close to the current main pool and pool bar. From what we saw, the tent was clean and well stocked with conveniences. However, we did not stay. We mistakenly thought the tents were equipped with air conditioning, but all there is a one fan. We got to the tent at around 8:00pm and if I had to guess, I’d say the temperature inside the tent was well over 100F. Unfortunately, we were outside of the cancellation window, so we were not able to get a refund. Villatent did refund our reservation fee, which was better than nothing. We wouldn’t rent again, but not because there was something wrong, but rather because for us, staying somewhere in Italy in the summer without air conditioning just isn’t an option.
