this historic shotgun home is a lovers' or writer's paradise (saint's fan is implicit)!! it is in the quiet, historic Algiers point area of New Orleans. the quarter and city is only a ferry ride or a 10 minute cab ride away. you can be in New Orleans but not 'of' New Orleans....get the feel of the old historic New Orleans.

Summary: Quaint place that is nicely furnished and well equipped with secure backyard for pets. Only issues are: (1) we were there during a short cold spell and although there are 2 small electric floor heaters, it was a little cool at night and morning. (2) tub-shower combo is the old fashioned tub on feet so it is a little high to get into for someone elderly and perhaps not so agile. I managed but was careful. Having said this, house really is interesting and a short walk (15 mins) or drive then park/walk to ferry which takes you via easy walk to French Quarter. Neighbourhood is very quiet and we thought quite safe although we did not venture out at night. Owner is super nice and helpful: allowed me to access more channels for the small daily DTV charge, and offered to let me buy another electric heater at her cost.
