Morgadio da Calçada has eight custom rooms for visitors who want to know one of the oldest wine producer estates in Douro with Morgadio da Calçada trademark with the quality of the winemaker Dirk Niepoort.
We are talking about eight rooms (maximum capacity of 2 people per room, and sold individually) next to a stately manor Sec.XVII, one of the most known in the region, erected in one of the most important village at Douro – Provesende, vineyard village - the one most valuable in the economic and cultural point of view, with an important tradition in all the events that marked the region of Port wine.
For this wine tourism project, we have been exploited and renovated the old farm buildings, having been made a contemporary intervention that ensures all the comforts: air conditioning, private bathroom, TV, tea in the rooms, keeping, however, the rural character of the old buildings. For the guests there is reserved a room with every comfort, but also the use of other spaces of the solar where meals can be served, wines can be tasted, etc.
The Wine tourism facilities are surrounded by 4.5 ha of vineyards where the wines are produced with Morgadio da Calçada brand, with labels designed by the architects Siza Vieira and Michel Toussaint, having Dirk van der Niepoort as winemaker. This is a partnership between Morgadio da Calçada and the well-known wine company Niepoort.
In addition to the production of wines, whose sale is available to those who visit us, there are still soaps with olive oil and port wine following an old recipe of the house, from the 19th century.
We guarantee guests a personalized welcome and they will have the opportunity to live the day to day of an emblematic “quinta” of the region and one of the best places to recall the heyday of Port wine.
