Positive: CLOS BENOIT, A VINEYARD INN is on the grounds of a working vineyard. Owners Bonnie and Ben Benoit, in addition to being winemakers, are gracious hosts. Our room on the second floor was pretty and comfortable and opened onto a large terrace where we had breakfast every morning. The microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator in a shared space next to the room were appreciated.The view was spectacular; the household rescue dogs friendly. Wonderful is that the inn is only a mile from Finca Altozano, an outstanding restaurant where we ate dinner twice and one mile from the Museo de la Vid y del Vino/the Vine and Wine Museum where the VALLE de GUADALUPE FILM FESTIVAL that we were attending was being held. NOTE: although the stairs to the second floor are steep (see my photo), the handrail is sturdy and I did not have any difficulty going up or down. This may be a problem for some, however.
Negative: We have an electric car, but there is no charging station and we couldn't locate a public one. Fortunately the owner of the B & B where we usually stay (it was fully booked) let us use his charging station. The breakfast was very nice, but both my husband and I need more protein. A couple of hard-cooked eggs would have provided it.
