Summary: The house is beautiful and location was amazing. We had never been to this lake before and enjoyed sight seeing the area. The home was clean, cozy and had everything you could need. It was easy to find and had lots of parking. We enjoyed the sun room and balcony but couldn’t use the downstairs common area because there was a smell of dead mouse in the room. They did give us a gift card to a local restaurant in town because of the inconvenience which was nice. The photos were an accurate reflection of the property. Just a note about the check in/check out - it’s required that you meet with the property owner at check in to do a walk through to do another walk through again at the check out which was stressful to try and coordinate schedules with small children travelling. We were unaware of this requirement when booking - the owner was very present coming to the property to do maintenance/access storage most days that we were there. The property is lovely but the lake is weedy so you have to rake the weeds back to swim from the shore. There was also quite a bit of geese poop around the lawn and shore line. We understand there’s not much you can do about geese, weeds or the odd mouse in cottage country. The local beach at Sandy lake was beautiful and we had a nice time taking our kids to the Peterborough zoo and on the train.
