Positive: Bedroom, living room/diner, entrance/hallway and bathroom are spacious and bright with two balconies. The building is easy to find and secure. Good Air conditioning in living room and bedroom. Full length window shutters in the living room kept it cool.. Great location - 20 minute walk or €4 Uber/Bolt to either the Old Town or New Town. A large supermarket plus pharmacy across the road (can recommend instore bakery), several restaurants, bars etc in the immediate area Kitchen is well equipped with two-burner induction hob, coffee machine, toaster, microwave, fridge with chiller box, and grill oven. An airfryer would be a great addition. There were some plastic cups and a jug, suitable for using in the pool area, which another reviewer had requested so the host is listening to feedback. Washing machine with a clothes airer on the balcony plus a few pegs. WiFi is excellent (400mb+) Excellent water pressure but a wider shower head with an adjustable height would improve it Pool has a large number of sun loungers plus tables and chairs beside a small bar/cafe so people could spread out. The pool is a good size plus a toddler pool. Previous reviewers mentioned they felt it was 'unwelcoming', but I disagree. It was quiet as no loud music playing, but each group (families mostly, both with young children and older) said hello. Other reviewers mentioned it being 'dated' and the host responded that it had been recently renovated; I think it would be fairer to say the apartment has been 'redecorated' than renovated with paint and a new shower curtain, cushions, bed linen and hanging curtains. For a family of 2 adults and 2 young children, it would be good but for 4 people or a family with older teenagers it would be cramped.
Negative: Bed - the bed was two singles pushed together, and the mattress was uncomfortable. When you turn, the mattress moves so almost every morning I had push the mattress back onto the bed by 10/15cm. Cleanliness - hairs in bath/shower plughole causing a blockage (shorter and darker than mine!) and stained, smelly pillows. The host sent the cleaner with a replacement pillow but it was thinner than a newspaper so I purchased my own bedding from across the road. Bathroom lighting - the tiling plus the dark grey curtain blocks any light into the shower, so the shower is very dark while using. A clear PVC curtain might be better and/or additional lighting. The lighting in the bedroom was temperamental - sometimes it worked, sometimes it switched off unexpectedly Pool - rubbish/refuse lying around the pool still there 5 days later. This is outside of the direct control of the host as the apartment is a predominantly residential building rather than a tourist complex, but it did make the area feel a little rundown. The construction noise also spoilt the pool area making it hard to relax. Unfortunately for 4 of the 8 days there was construction (drilling, hammering, banging) in the apartment immediately next door (shared wall) for 12+ hours a day, for four days. I contacted the host to the first day and he replied saying mid September onwards is renovation time for holiday lets. On the second day I saw the advance warning notice stuck on a door, published/dated before I made my booking. Apparently it seems there was an oversight in sharing this information. On my last night, I couldn't sleep as the hammering, furniture dragging, dropping heavy items on tiles and banging continued until 3am (perhaps they were now at decorating stage) and I had a very early flight. Had I been aware of the renovations, I would have booked elsewhere. I had chosen a quieter location but found I couldn’t enjoy a lie-in or relax. The host adjusted my rate *eventually*.
