Nestling under the Pap of Glencoe with views towards Loch Leven and the surrounding mountains it offers the perfect base for exploring Lochaber, Argyll and the Inner Isles. The area is renowned for its outdoor pursuits, breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife and turbulent historic past. Nearby Glencoe Mountain Resort and Fort William the ’Outdoor Capital of the UK’ both offer excellent mountain biking, climbing, skiing, snowboarding and walking. Kayaking, sailing, golf and fishing are also popular pursuits. The Glencoe to Oban cycle path has lots of level cycling for families with young children and bikes can be hired locally. Catch the West Highland Steam Train (as depicted in the Harry Potter movie) to Mallaig, crossing the famous Glenfinnan viaduct, or visit some of the unspoilt white sandy beaches at Arisaig and Morar. Steeped in history, the area has many ruined castles, monuments and museums to visit, or Oban and Ben Nevis distilleries allow you to partake in a wee dram!
